How to renew & reserve online

Jackson County Public Library offers free access to the Internet. The only cost to the patron is that of printing. Any patron of the library, 16 years of age or older, may use the Internet after agreeing to follow and signing the library's Internet policy. Minors under the age of 16
must have a parent or guardian sign the Internet policy.

Jackson County Public Library adheres to the Federal Children's Internet Protection Act
(Pub. L 106-554, enacted December 2000). The library adheres, also, to any state law
regarding access to the Internet as well as any policies and guidelines concerning filtering,
or any other issue, from the West Virginia Library Commission.

By signing the Internet policy, you are agreeing to abide by the rules of the library concerning internet access. Failure to abide by this policy may result in loss of Internet privileges for a time length determined by the library.

  1. You MUST have your library card to use the Internet computers.
  2. Circulation staff will assign the computer to you based on the availability of the computers.
  3. Overdue items or fines may prevent you from using the Internet computers.
  4. Normally, one person uses each computer at a time.
  5. Patrons using the computer are guaranteed a ONE HOUR session if that does not conflict with the library's closing time. The maximum time any person may use the computer is TWO HOURS per day.
  6. E-mail may be accessed. Please do not access chat rooms, unless a particular type of chat room is needed (i.e., for a college class). In that case, please inform the staff. The library does not support any interactive services.
  7. Printing from the computer is .10 cents per page. Floppy disks are also available from the library for .50 cents. Use of your own personal disks requires consultation wit the staff. Do not violate copyright laws.
  8. No illegal, unethical, or inappropriate use of the computers or Internet will be tolerated. All patrons are prohibited from accessing materials considered to be obscene* or any graphic child pornography*. All patrons are prohibited from accessing any materials considered harmful to minors*. The Jackson County Public Library adheres to the Children's Internet Protection Act of 2000 and to any filtering requirements and guidelines set forth by federal or state law and the West Virginia Library Commission.

* Definitions for obscene, child pornography and harmful to minors may be found in
USCA Title 18, section 1460 & 2256 and the West Virginia Code 61-8A-1.
